HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME!
A birthday in a foreign country where you can count all your friends on one hand, probably isn't everyone's cup of tea. Well, it is mine. I haven't felt such a liberation in I-can't-even-remember how long. Sure, its daunting, being on my own, and not even speaking the language. I keep saying, my life is like a foreign film without subtitles.. but at least it is a comedy. And so I laugh. I laugh until my sides hurt and the only thing that made me shed a tear recently was reading what my baby brother wrote in my birthday card. And each time I reach this high, I look down and remember all the lows I swam through and then it all begins to makes sense.
So today, I'm going to celebrate life. I am going to meet a new friend, enjoy a nice dinner, and then we are going on the hunt for something alcoholic to devour. Not as easy as it may sound, considering I live in a Muslim country, and the only beer I can find in my local supermarket doesn't contain the most essential ingredient. But I am sure I can find a bar somewhere..
I'm useless even with a map, but booze, I can find anywhere. True story.
