Bruised, bitten and besoffen.

dress - self made (formerly a long gypsy skirt)

So tomorrow I am off to our mini vacation, and will not be taking my best friend, Mr. Laptop with me, as an attempt to gain more time for serious shopping, and of course loads of lush behaviorials.

This is what a week in my life looks like. (must warn you, not very interesting.)
  • This week, I got into a bit of a disagreement with my kite board. It hit me in the face right between the eyes, and what looks like a scratch in the photo is actually where my skin popped from the impact of the board on it. It almost knocked me out. We all know I like to get into fights with my boards, heck my bikes too.
  • Pomelo (grapefruit) margaritas are super yummy. You must try it.
  • So is a shot of tequila chased by a slice of orange covered in brown sugar and cinnamon. So good, very addictive.
  • Shredding is crazy fun. My first attempt was on this old faded black banana republic tee, but only having watched the first snippet of Camille's tutorial, I had overdone the shredding in all my excitement, and ended up with something more Rodarte looking rather than Raquel Allegra-ish. My second victim is a Forever21 tee I fished out of the sale pile for about $6, and with the stretchy fabric, its a little easier to keep the piece together.
  • Ultimate Frisbee players from all over the globe are/were here after the tournament in manila, and so of course we all joined forces and stumbled all over the island like drunk wild hogs, flying high, but you already knew that. They did the sex shooters at summerplace, i drank a bottle of wine on my own and bit my friend driftwood in the arm as she did with me two days before that, and woke up today feeling like a 16-wheeler had gone all over me at least 10 times.
  • I leave at 9am tomorrow, and am most worried about not having time to paint my nails.
  • Extremely excited about the shopping this weekend, and call on the amazingly awesome vintage shopping gods to guide me in this very delicious quest. Must not have an asthma attack this weekend please.
  • Bullet points are quite fun, I highly recommend having a go at them.
  • My hair is a mess.

I'm off to the boondocks! x

PS: Happy turkey day to you all! gobble gobble.

How can you say no to that?

As Rachel Z. would say - I DIE.

Chanelling Tallulah

Ah how refreshing to finally see someone with a nail polish obsession like mine.

I am the queen of all procrastinators these days, I have to pack for friday, but ive been getting so distracted. This weekend, I am heading to Baguio with the gang, not only to be drunk, loud and merry, but also to do some crazy shopping. Its been a while since I have last seen the girls, and can not wait to catch up on all the goss.

Lovely Lily

Lily Allen on the cover of the Dec/Jan issue of Nylon. I found these photos in some forum and some comments with them.

"She looks much thinner in these than she is in reality."
"I usually love Nylon's photoshoots, but here not so much. Plus i cant stand Lily Allen. She's too mouthy and crass for my liking."
"The poses are bad but at least she has lost weight."
"Lily Allen can look fantastic when she scrubs up, but she seems to looks awful in every pap shot of her, when she hasn’t been all styled up."

I wonder why most people seem to dislike her? I think she is awesome, I love the way she dresses, love that she had the guts to dye her hair pink, love that she cusses like a sailor and throws a fist here and there at paparazzi and absolutely love the fact that she isnt a waif and doesnt have some eating disorder. I mean, dude, I love Nicole Richie, but Its pretty obvious she had an eating disorder, going from a thicker into 85lbs starvation mode. Even Paris and Lindsey are getting skinnier and skinnier by the day. Lily isnt skinny but she isnt fat either.. Id like to see who these people are posting about people's weight here and there. I bet they have major issues with their weight and therefore unload by criticizing people like Rumi Neely for being "crackwhore skinny" and Karla Deras for "gaining weight on the thighs".

I mean, are people for real?

PS: I am in love with Lily's new hair!

Oh, Angelina.

Jennifer, who?

Acid on the beach

jeans - thrifted and DIYed, tank - Forever 21, t-strap stilettos - syrup

Right now I am pretending nobody can see whats in the background, but If you have superpowers and see it anyway then let me just say that I had no choice, unlike some ultra cool bloggers I know, I do not own a blank white wall. I do however, have a door with a palm tree painted on it, but in my rush could not find a place to rest my camera on.

My fellow island girl Hot Robot called me a tease in my last post, so this is for her. Yesterday, injured and too tired to kite, I decided to stay home and indulge in my favorite past time - sewing. I am by no means an expert, but I sew by hand, and get a crazy kinda satisfaction in completing my little projects, products of my island fever. This pair of jeans I thrifted for $2, dumped 2 small bottles of thick bleach on, and then altered the fit, from slouchy men's jeans into skinny jeans. It has some crazy pockets, which my boyf remarked were "kinda cool", and a mini belt at the bottom of each leg. I wasn't sure If I was satisfied with how much I bleached, so I had to try them with a proper heel and a tank, and was quite happy with the end result. Must find more stuff to bleach!

With Lady Gaga on blast, I had so much fun trying stuff on with my heels that I even went for my beloved harem pants and paired them with a beanie and some pumps.. That I will post about tomorrow because I can barely keep my eyes open. Sorry for the blurry quality of the photos, the nicest ones turned out to be the ones my flash didn't wanna work on. Tsk tsk.

An embryonic journey to the cherry coloured funk

skirt - vintage, tank - old navy, bag - market market bazaar, acessories - F21, india, bazaar, family heirloom

cut offs - thrifted & DIYed, tee - F21, feather necklace - DIY

skirt - paolo collection, top - GapBody, bracelets, bag - market bazaars

This weekend was a busy one. First there was saturday night, where I among others had to stop by the opening of a friend's restaurant, and a birthday. That pretty much meant walking from almost one end of the island to another, and then back and then forth and then back. In my long dip dye gypsy skirt, walking was a tad excruciating, as there was no breeze that night whatsoever. As usual, we had the giggles, and it seemed like everywhere we went, we were still having a better time than everyone else around us.. hmm I wonder why.

The next morning were all about fish tacos, and then the boyf asked me out to dinner so we headed down to this italian restaurant we hadnt tried yet.. It was overpriced and their lasagna was dry. Shame. This is where I wore my feather necklace for the first time, which I made months ago in a fit of boredom. Its an awesome piece, and Im quite proud of myself for making it with superglue instead of a glue gun. Of course It took me days to get all the glue off my hands, but seeing the photos now, It was probably worth it.

So every season, we get new instructors at our school, so the boyf and I took our two new friends out to a real filipino dinner, which included bulalo, tinola, salted egg and some garlic kangkong. Im sure by now youre like "kang-what?" but I assure you, if you have not tried it yet, then its about time, cause you are missing out babe. For that night I dont have any photos other than the one le boyf took at home, please ignore the mess if that is possible and instead, have a look at my bleached jeans, which are still unfinished.. yeah its exhausting being such a perfectionist.

And so last night was the poker tournament as the fundraiser for the Boracay Dragons. We have a tournament this weekend in the city, and whilst the boyf and I wont be going, because we have wind and work, we are all hoping the team does well and brings home more trophies we can drink alcohol out of. When my friend Jenny saw me, she said "why is your skirt so high up on your waist?" Evidently she has not yet ventured out into the blogosphere. But since most of my friends are quite used to my "unusual" antics, she just proceeded to call me a ballerina, and that was that. Oh how I love my friends. My martian won the big tournament, some big money, a few gift certificates and two bottles of wine, we practically died and went to heaven. I played a few more games, but not to win, but just to play and had a good laugh at the fact that almost every winner of every hand got up on the bench and did a dance. All in all a very satsfactory weekend, I say.

And now I am super late for a date with our brandnew kite. I would post a photo but Im afraid not many people will understand my excitement. Well maybe you will if I tell you its pink? My martian chose it, go figure.

I want her Style ~ Grace Slick

I have this crazy theory about how I was born in the wrong era. The 60's and the 70's have always captivated me, and helped me develop an almost unhealthy obsession with bands like Jefferson Airplane. Their front woman Grace Slick with that incredibly haunting voice has had me hooked on their sound since the day I first heard White Rabbit. If you have an appreciation for the psychedelics, then you must have you some of J.A.

Style-wise, I am in love with Grace Slicks laid back folksy way of dressing. And I will be eternally jealous of those fabulous sunnies she is rockin' in the last photo. As for cool points, she has dated Jim Morrison and tried to spike Richard Nixon's tea with LSD. Now that is rock n roll.
Grace Slick is now a renowned and well respected artist.
