"This could be heaven, right here on earth."

Staying true to the blogs name, here are the photos from the Kite-Safari trip. Our first stop was Seco Island, more like a sandbank with a few bushes actually, with amazing on and off shore wind conditions. Unlucky for me, during my first kite session, I had a bit of a bad crash, straight into the 2 feet deep water, face first, leaving me in a daze for at least 10 minutes, absolutely unable to stand up straight or see clearly. All I remember was the water coming at me way too fast, some last minute swear words before I was sitting down holding my head together, which felt like it was expanding and about to explode. Such are the hazards of our trade. After fishing me out of the water and sticking a few menthol patches on my back and a nap, I felt a bit better but knew that this wasn't a crash I was going to get over after just one nap.

Forced to take a break, I sat myself down by the shore to take some magnificent photos of the boys kiting during sunset. I have tons of photos and so it was a bit of a struggle picking just 25 for the blog.. I did end up taking a few of my feet much to the boyfriend's delight who applauds my creative ways of getting a shot, hahha. Since it was full moon, I was taking alternating photos between the sunset and the moonrise, quite the sight to behold if I may say so. Sitting over a crackling bonfire we all felt an intense wave of happiness, for being so close to nature, and enjoying it in all its colors, scents and utter glory.

Day two, after a magnificent sunrise, we kited some more and I finally allowed myself some time back on the water, albeit a tad hesitant this time, not wanting to make my stiff neck any worse that it already was. We spent more time jumping sand dunes and rolling around the sand and searching for a kangaroo rat (the islands only inhabitants), we packed up the camp and set off to sleep on the boat, so we could leave for Batbatan Island early the next morning. I slept unbelievably well in the cot and before we knew it we had reached our next destination, a beach with insane blue waters and a half lagoon a.k.a. the perfect playground for us kiters. Making the most out of my trip, I somehow got up the balls to try my hand at a kiteloop again - after over a year and a half. (For those non kiters, a kiteloop is when you jump up into the air and then loop your kite 360 degrees which pulls you forward quite hard, and then landing on your board again.) I crashed my first two before I landed my next 3 or 4.. and I even have the video to prove it, yay for me! Totally worth all the bruises, the sore ribs, a stiff neck and the mild concussion, if you ask me.

After I gave my last box of Pringles away to the local kids, and an amazing feast for lunch on the boat, we headed back towards Boracay with a quick stop where we jumped into the water to cool off and conquered a float but then had to quickly swim back on board before the current would have taken us out into sea.. Sitting on the top deck and using the endless supply of beers and a way to avoid seasickness - and successfully, surprisingly - we made it back in time for the sunset, but took forever to actually get off the boat and get on with our lives, we were all in denial, but all good trips must come to an end, no?

love, peace & happiness

x dane
