Sunshowers

I bought 2 yards of this printed chiffon over a year ago, loving the pattern, and then it just sat around in the back of my closet waiting for a sewing machine to enter the room. This summer I am in love with anything long that moves, and hits the sand when I walk. I am also really into stuff that twirls.. It has a garter under the bust, because on the beach it needs to fit without being uncomfortable. The straps are braided and meet at the right shoulder, with one strip of fabric flowing down from it, and it is also lined. I kinda love it although when I started making it I had no idea what I wanted it to look like, just that I wanted it long.
In the city I imagine it with a wide belt and a blazer, or maybe a slim belt over the blazer..

Summer inspiration.

Happy 25 ♥

romper - vintage, tee - TRF for Zara

On the eve of the 26th, we had ourselves some wine and waited for my birthday. As soon as the clock struck midnight, I was given a weird fountain flaming shot drink, which got me wasted within the hour. I stumbled home and in and out of consciousness, according to the boyfriend. The next day I found out it was a double shot of Bacardi 151, and some Kahlua.. which would have been enough on its own, without the one or two or three shots of Cuervo.

I finished this romper on my birthday. Lots of cussing and swearing involved, since there was still the party to prepare for. It would probably have all been a little easier had i not had the most magnificent hangover ever.
Had a joint birthday party together with my German sister from another mister (who's bday is a day later). The theme was Mardi Gras/Gay Pride/Love Parade.. and whilst only a few actually came in costume, those who did, went all out, throwing glitter on everyone. The food we prepared ended up being absolutely delish (thanks to her, not me!), everyone contributed a bottle of something.. but we somehow still ended up with an empty bar by 1am. Island people get thirsty in this heat. Of course there was a bit of a cake fight too.. its tradition and chocolate cake always guarantees a messy one. Then we whipped out the karaoke machine and sang our happy little hearts out. The cops came to try to break up the party, and my good friend Ali pleaded with them and asked for a few more hours in exchange for cake and spaghetti. They must have been hungry because I'm pretty sure we woke up the entire island with all the noise..
When almost all the liquor was gone, we moved our little troop to white beach and danced barefoot in the Hey Jude sand. Jude forced us all to drink shots of sambuca and light little fires in our mouths, until finally just before 3am, I decided it was time to walk my extremely intoxicated boyfriend home, and call it a night.

All in all, another successful birthday! Hello, 25!

VOGUE - The Shape Issue

I myself am a curvy girl, and over the years of living in the Philippines, where most women come in one size -- tiny --I have learned how to deal with the negative comments -- I ignore them. So when I saw these photos on Style.com featuring beautiful women in all shapes and sizes, women I love, I had to share.

I have friends who have weight issues and I wish for nothing more but for them to see how truly amazing and ravishing they all are, in their own unique way.

This is for you, beautiful!

Introducing; Renegade Lovers

Uhmm yea.. so I have hopped on the Twitter/Etsy bandwagon.

Twitter HERE

Etsy HERE

My Etsy is empty so far but I am making so much stuff, and I am just itching to start selling. I need to look into my mailing options from the island first, but I am definitely ready to share my humble pieces with the world.. so stay posted for that.

With my 25th birthday approaching I find myself feeling a little lost.. most of the time I feel like I am only 17.. and I certainly dont act any older. So what turning 25 means for me, I have yet to figure out.

Now I am off to the river for some frolicking! Ta!

PS: I realize some of the photos from my older posts are still not showing.. while I have moved most of my newer photos to Imageshack, I simply do not have the time to move the whole lot so please bear with me. It should all go back to normal by friday/saturday latest.

When I'm weak, I draw strength from you

I promise I have not fallen off the edge of the world, I have merely been busy doing other things - like relaxing for one. School was fun but living in the city really took its toll on me.. I am completely exhausted. Luckily I have now been back on the island for a little over a week, and have gotten my tan back.. and a new hair color. Photos of such to follow.

Before flying back to the island, boyfriend and I took a little trip to celebrate our 3rd year anniversary. La Union was beautiful on a Monday, deserted and scorching hot. We spent two days learning how to surf, drinking lots and lots of beer and sitting on the balcony and counting the seconds between the time the sun hits the surface of the water until it disappears completely into the horizon. The colors were just beautiful, the indigo of the water and the fiery red sky..

Back in the city, we consumed those drinks. Open bar all night. Very dangerous.

I have been sewing like a maniac too.. I just completed my first maxi dress, which I made without a pattern. I'm quite proud of it because it turned out quite nicely. I also made a long skirt out of this awesome purple/yellow fabric. Long skirts and a bathing suit are my default beach wear, so I think I will make more of them..

Right now, I am about to attempt to make a pattern for a romper. Wish me luck!

Alice, who the f*ck is ALICE?

The models in my sketches are known to have half their faces covered with hair, nicknamed the one eyed models. Only today I realised I was drawing little Alice Dellal look-alikes.

To say that she inspires me is a complete understatement.

Rolling Gossip

Blake Lively is stunning in the last photo, but my favorite has got to be the first. Two girls, one ice cream cone.. hottt.

Ed W. and Jessica S. are supposed to be a couple these days.. I know not many Gossip girl fans actually like Jessica in the series, but I love her. They do make a cute/fashionable couple, like a couple of hipsters.

In the Boondocks

tee - shredded forever 21, denim cut offs - vintage, polka dot tights - xhilaration, scarf, stud cuff & wayfarers - markets, fur bag & lace-up boots - vintage

  • I almost shrieked in excitement when I saw these combat style boots.. they were exactly what I was looking for. It was love at first sight.
  • Thank god the boyfriend is around to take my photos again.. I was getting tired of using a self timer, and, well he takes much prettier photos anyway.
  • So Mr Photobucket has decided to take my privileges away until my birthday, ironically. Good thing I have a second account, or else this blog would just be full of banners, asking me to upgrade my photobucket account. Does anybody else know a better place to link my photos from? I have always preferred photobucket because the photos load faster.. but I could be mistaken.
  • I have become totally obsessed with all things Beth Ditto. Ever since I saw her perform during Christopher Kane's show at Fashion Rocks, she has become some kind of a hero to me.
  • I am making friends with my new sewing machine. Its still a little awkward, but we are making progress. Well we should be.. because how else am I going to sew all those dresses I had in mind?
