My weekends start on wednesdays.

denim shorts - people are people, polka dot bra - hanes, tube top - markets, plaid shirt - thrifted, sunnies - japan

Are these not the most amazing Lady Gaga-esque sunnies you have ever seen? Although I don't think they are meant to be worn for long.. I was dizzy after 5 mins.

I checked out www.wordle.com and made my first little word cloud:
So apparently I'm all about LOVE, NIGHT, POCKETS, LAST and FUN. Sounds just about right to me.

Lastly, If you live in Metro Manila, check out Republ1c's anniversary sale. 30% off on all brands, including RVCA, C1rca, Dragon Eyewear, Skull Candy, Liquid Force, Hurley, Supra and much more. I am already working on having some new headphones reserved since I cant be there. For details, go HERE.

Seeing Spots

I couldn't stop laughing when my boyfriend protested about this combo being "too busy". Admittedly I never dress in all pattern.. but maybe I should do this more often, Its kinda fun, I idolize Susie from Style Bubble for it.

Last night Mr Insomnia Man came to town and the skirt is the result of it. The top is just shirred (love shirring) and it was inspired by those AA skirts with the pockets.. I made my first pockets too and have decided that I need to make more things with pockets.. so so fun.

I am planning a trip to the mainland to hunt down some jersey.. Jersey dresses are just so flattering no? I especially fell in love with what Penelope Cruz wore to Salma Hayek's wedding.

...... Javier Bardem () If you have not seen Vicky Christina Barcelona, you must go out and see it asap!

I'm feeling rough, I'm feeling raw, I'm in the prime of my life.

possibly one of my first ever DIY's, dress that used to be a long tiered skirt - thrifted

I am not going to lie, the last 3 days I have done nothing remotely fashion oriented.. Its been all work, sun and fun, with the exception of the styling I did for Paula's little fashion show. Last night was my last night working an event, and so I finally had a chance to let loose and do silly things.. and witness the sun rise on white beach.

Today I have soup for brains, so I will keep this short.. I am also a little late for another night out. Holy two month vacation.. I am having so much fun with my life these days. I am truly blessed, thank you to the man upstairs! It looks like I will be extending my vacation.. I love Manila during rainy season, so I will see you all there in July!!

...and thanks for all your comments, I especially loved reading about everyone's Starbucks names.. I guess I'm not so weird after all!

Shredtastic

This tee used to belong to the boyf.. until it landed on my lap and was then succumbed to ultimate destruction and then major reconstruction. It looks wicked without a bra and is so soft and comfortable, it makes me wanna shred just about everything I own.
We then proceeded to playing around with the new toys from Republ1c.. wicked new sunnies and obnoxious shiny gold skull candy headphones.. I like. Cant wait for this week's fashion show, but I already fear for the safety of my savings. I would pretty much wear everything in that little suitcase.. smells like shopping to me.
Then we hit Summerplace where I joined some weird contest where they were giving away free stuff. Slightly intoxicated, I stumbled up on stage when the host asked if there were any single ladies in the house. I quickly introduced myself as "Sarah" and claimed that I was 3 years younger.. so technically it wasn't really me up there, it was just someone who looked like me. So now I have tons of sunblock.. and an underwater camera. Yay.

♥xo

PS: "Sarah" is also my Starbucks name.. here in the Philippines, Dane easily becomes "Jane" or even "May" and don't even get me started on using my full name Danielle.. Do you have a Starbucks name?

Kandi for your Hed

If you are thinking, "I have seen this fabric before", you guessed right.. this dress used to be this dress. I was happy with what I first came up with, but just thought that it wasn't really something I could party in. Enter my first tiered ruffles mini dress project. I am quite happy with it, and it was exhilarating to be able to answer everyone's "I LOVE your dress!!" with "Thanks, I made it." Nothing beats that.

So the Hed Kandi team was on the island to yet again lead us loyal party animals into the sunrise, arms up in the air, toes buried in sand and hearts dancing to the beat. ♥

After a "hard" day teaching poi to tourists, fire dancing and snagging ridiculous prizes from an event, I am ready to put on another party dress and to dance my night away. The boyf is already throwing in the towel and surrendering to permanent hangoverdom, but I am just getting started.....

PS: Thanks for all the recent amazing comments both from my blog roll crew & anons. You never fail to make me smile!

Run through the moss on high heels..

When I grow up - Fever Ray

When I grow up
I want to be a forester
Run through the moss on high heels
That's what I'll do
Throwing out a boomerang
Waiting for it to come back to me

When I grow up
I want to live near the sea
Crab claws and bottles of rum
That's what I'll have
Staring at a seashell
Waiting for it to embrace me

I put my soul into what I do
Last night I drew a funny man
With dog eyes and a hanging tongue
It goes way back
I've never liked that sad look
From someone who wants to be loved by you

I'm very good with plants
When my friends are away
They let me keep the soil moist
On the seventh day I rest
For a minute or two
Then back on my feet to call for you

You've got cucumbers on your eyes
Too much time spent on nothing
Waiting for a moment to arise
The face in the ceiling
And arms too long
I'm waiting for him to catch me

PS: Ok, I tried my hardest not to repost this, but it is so good I could not resist it. Everyone is raving about this video, and what she is wearing, but I fell in love with the lyrics. Haunting is the only word to describe it. The song is absolutely lovely and the video oh so mesmerizing. If you love Bjork/Mandalay/Cocteau Twins/Lamb etc, you must check it out.

Video is in my sidebar. Told you I was obsessed. =)

PSS: I am so so so so grateful for all the wonderful comments I am getting for my last post. You all totally rock my socks.

Chillzone

maxi skirt - made by me, bathers - paolo collection

Following a link posted on Twitter, I started my morning by reading this. It made me sad to think that someone could possibly be discouraged to start their own blog in fear of being judged, but it was a problem I was all too aware of.

When I first started my blog, it wasn't all about fashion. I was hesitant about posting photos of myself in what I was wearing because I considered myself "larger than blog-average". When I was younger I struggled with eating disorders, and having a blog actually helped me cope with my insecurities. I forced my image out there, like it or not, and for the first few months got a few responses saying "you re so fat" and "your thighs are huge". At first I felt awful about such commentary, not understanding what would motivate a person to beat someone down like that, just because of their built. Then I saw the crazy comments on other blogs, telling Rumi she needed to eat something, calling her anorexic, and calling Karla's thighs "fatter". I realized it wasn't about me being "fat", it was about some people being unhappy and insecure. So unhappy that they have to go to great lengths to insult someone, and taking false pride in knowing that they might have a more "perfect" body, according to their sad, diluted minds.

A few months later, having moderated my comments, the haters have given up. And they usually do when their pea sized brains find something else to pick on. But at the end of it all I found more than just a voice on my own little space on the Internet, I also found healing.

So if you are reading this, and are too afraid to start your own blog space, my advice is, just do it!

Cyber-bullying is only for the insecure, and unhappy.

SANTIGOLD & travelling with the speed of sound.. to SLINKYland

dress & headband - made by me

If you have been reading my blog for a while, then you would know about my obsession with SANTIGOLD, formerly known as Santogold. So when I heard she was coming to the island - my island - I just about lost it.

So can you imagine what it was like for me to be asked on stage to dance with her? I still cant believe it. Her dancers/backup dancers are the cutest things ever, and Santigold, well she is just as rad as I imagined her to be. Live she sounded exactly like she does on her record, and she was smiling and gorgeous in her wicked little jumpsuit, despite the gruelling humidity. At the end of it all, Che and I stole her play lists that were stuck on the stage floor, and I plan to frame mine together with a photo of her.. I told you I was obsessed. We were so close up front, maybe 5 feet away from her at all times. BEST. NIGHT. EVER.

After her performance, and 2 encore songs, fireworks, fire shows, dance numbers and an abstract interpretive dancing, Pete Tong started playing, and we headed over to Slinky to dance the night away. Slinky is one of my favorite events of the year, crazy house music, dancing in the sand until the sun comes up and crazy black lights & neon decoration. At about 5am we were exhausted and decided to hit the sack.. but I could still hear the bass & music until about 7am.

How was your Easter?

PS: Santigold + Boracay + Full Moon + Fireworks =
